Baptism Day

Today, water baptism is most readily identified with Christianity, where it symbolizes the cleansing (remission) of sins, and the union of the believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection so that he becomes one of Christ's Faithful. Most Christian groups practice some form of literal water-based baptism and agree that it is important, yet strongly disagree with other groups regarding any or all of several aspects of baptism, such as:

* form of the baptism
* recipients of baptism
* meaning/effects of the act of baptism

However, a few Christian groups assert that water-based baptism has been supplanted by the promised baptism of the Holy Spirit, and water baptism was unnecessarily carried over from the early Jewish Christian practice.

Baptism Cake

A Christening or Baptism Cake Will Be the ‘Icing’ on Your Celebration

The first thing to consider in planning your christening or baptism cake will be how many guests it needs to serve at your celebration as this will also determine the size of your cake. Specialty-shaped cakes are always festive but if you are going to be entertaining a lot of guests, you might want to consider a sheet cake which can also be appropriately decorated for the occasion.

Cake pans come in a wide assortment of shapes and sizes. Shapes that would make great baptismal or christening cake designs would be a cross or an open book which could represent the Bible.

A specially designed baptism or christening cake will complete your celebration. It can be as fancy or as simple as you like. It can be homemade or it can be professionally made to order.

If you’ll be making the cake, you might choose to use a boxed cake mix or you might want to make the cake from scratch using a specific recipe. I came across this website http://cake.allrecipes.com which has tons of cake recipes including those that use cake mixes as an ingredient. They have broken down their cake recipes for easier viewing by pan size/type, type of cake and flavor. The choices are endless.

When it comes to decorating your christening or baptismal cake, there are numerous books and videos that you can reference for unique ideas and tips as represented below (the last one is a video). To keep the cake traditional, it can be frosted in white but decorated with various colors.

You'll also need the proper cake decorating tools to create the cake you have chosen.

If your time is limited, it might be better to leave the baking and decorating of your christening or baptism cake to a bakery. They can guide you through all the options they offer.
