Bar Mitzvah

bar mitzvah, westchester limousine, fairfield limousine

According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the age of maturity (12 years for girls, 13 years for boys) they become responsible for their actions. At this point a boy is said to become Bar Mitzvah (בר מצוה, "man of the commandment"); a girl is said to become Bat Mitzvah (בת מצוה, "daughter of the commandment").

Before this age, all the child's responsibility to follow Jewish law and tradition lies with the parents. After this age, the children are privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life and bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics.

How To Find Bar Mitzvah Party Favors

Finding Bar Mitzvah party favors can seem like an arduous process. However, with just a little bit of determination and a little bit of time, you can find the perfect favors for your child’s big day.

  1. Use search engines. If you know what specifically you are looking for, go to a common search engine like Yahoo! or Google and type in the search name for exactly what you need. Most likely, a website will pop up that has what you are looking for. You might have to check out a couple of the listed sites, but after going through a few, you will most likely stumble on what you are looking for.

  2. Use Bar Mitzvah websites. There are websites specifically geared towards planning Bar Mitzvahs like ItsMyMitzvah or BarMitzvahFindit. Check these sites out to see if they have what you are looking for. Often, you can stumble upon great ideas by perusing these kinds of websites.
  3. Ask your friends and family members. Chances are, if you are planning a Bar Mitzvah, you have friends who have already planned one or who are planning one for the future. Talk to your friends who have already thrown Bar Mitzvahs and ask them about what vendors they used and how satisfied they were with them. Your friends will be honest with you and can prove to be a great resource.
  4. Check out “junk” stores. Most areas have stores that seem to carry just about everything. If you are not into Internet purchasing, check out these kinds of stores for your needs. They may just carry what it is you need. Make sure to give yourself enough time before the big day if you need a lot of one item because the store will most likely need to order it for you.

  5. Scope out bulk and party supply stores. Bulk stores such as Costco seem to be everywhere these days and they always seem to carry what you need. They tend to have a lot of random items that are not too expensive, in bulk—a great resource for party favors.
  6. Look at party supply stores. Check out party supply stores in your area. To find one, check out your local yellow pages under either “party supplies” or “shopping/retail.” Call ahead and let them know what you are looking for to save the trip to the store if they do not have it.
  7. Use mail order catalogs. Oriental Trading Company catalogs seem to have loads of party favors that would fit in well with any Bar Mitzvah party theme. Check it out to see if they will cater to your particular party favor needs.

Good luck finding your party favors! Enjoy the event!
