Prom

In the United States, a prom, short for promenade, is a formal dance held at the end of the years of high school and college, called junior prom and senior prom respectively. In British English such an event would be called a ball, although in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand it is also often called a formal. In Australian schools the terms used are either formal or sometimes as Leaver's Dinner, usually so when the night includes a meal. In Ireland it is known as a debs (an abbreviation of debutante ball). In the U.S. a "formal" is typically a similar dance that is held by a fraternity or sorority affiliated with a certain college or university. In Australia, the term "prom" has also come into sparse usage and in Britain it is becoming widespread, because of US influence. The name is derived from the late ninteenth century practice of a Promenade ball. The end of year tradition stemmed from the Graduation Ball tradition.

Prom Shoes

Dyeable Prom Shoes

So you have found the perfect prom dress. Now all you need is a pair of gorgeous prom shoes to match. Unfortunately, when you did find a pair, they were the wrong color! What to do? Try custom-dyed prom shoes!

Dyeable prom shoes are versatile and can be custom-dyed to match the shade fit for your prom dress. Many online companies offer these services and you can have the shoes delivered, too. When deciding to have your prom shoes dyed, please take note of the following tips and ideas.

To help the master dyer, you'd need to send along with your order a swatch of the textile you'll be using for your prom dress. The shade of color, however, may not be a perfect match. Dyed prom shoes can look different from indoors to outdoors due to the ultra violet rays outdoors. Products dyed peach, beige, or taupe will look pinkish outdoors. Those dyed gray can look purplish outdoors. Colors change in different light settings due to the fabric being dyed.

The dye used on your prom shoes is water-soluble. The dye can bleed or stain if it is exposed to water or heavy moisture. This can be prevented by using a water repellent spray. This is the best protection against staining, but it will not necessarily make your prom shoes waterproof. If you do spray your prom shoes you will not be able to re-dye them.
