School Prom

In the United States, a prom, short for promenade, is a formal dance held at the end of the years of high school and college, called junior prom and senior prom respectively. In British English such an event would be called a ball, although in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand it is also often called a formal. In Australian schools the terms used are either formal or sometimes as Leaver's Dinner, usually so when the night includes a meal. In Ireland it is known as a debs (an abbreviation of debutante ball). In the U.S. a "formal" is typically a similar dance that is held by a fraternity or sorority affiliated with a certain college or university. In Australia, the term "prom" has also come into sparse usage and in Britain it is becoming widespread, because of US influence. The name is derived from the late ninteenth century practice of a Promenade ball. The end of year tradition stemmed from the Graduation Ball tradition.

High School After Prom Party

High School After Prom Party Ideas

The night is coming to an end and everyone else is leaving the party either to head for home and sleep or to another event to party till the wee hours of the morning. The latter is called an after-prom party, a kind of warming down exercise after the pumping excitement of a high school prom night. After-prom parties are great when everybody is still revved up to dance and party (and able to stay awake far longer 'til morning).

Many high school after-prom services can be found online. They offer different party events with fun fantasy themes. One such party is the after-prom cruise where party goers board a boat to ferry them past the Statue of Liberty.

The After-Prom Cruise offers all-night dancing with New York's hottest club DJs at the helm, a live comedy performance, unlimited soda and juice, and a continental breakfast served in the morning.

Another after-prom party theme is the Casino Cruise where players are given $500 play money to spend on real casino games like roulette, black jack and more. They even have prizes like DVDs and video games for the lucky winners!

The after-prom Casino Cruise includes one level of Casino Games and one level of dancing, unlimited soda and juice, and a continental breakfast for everyone.

For those not so fond of sailing on water, there is also an after-prom party theme called Copacabana Nightclub. This one requires VIP admission. It includes DJs, unlimited soda and juice, and a continental breakfast.

These after-prom party theme packages can also be combined for an ultra-fun ending to your prom night! Partygoers can go to a Copacabana Party and afterwards spend a lovely cruise around New York City harbor, or they can choose to laugh all night long with a Comic Strip party and then watch the sun rise over New York's skyline on a sunrise cruise.
