School Reunion

A class reunion is a meeting of former classmates, typically organized at or near their former school by one of the class on or around an anniversary of their graduation. Former teachers may be invited as well. Usually, participants nostalgically reminisce about their old school days, fondly remember their school pranks, and bring each other up to date on what has happened to each of them since they went their separate ways.

Planning a Class Reunion

Author: Jennifer - Internet Sales Coordinator & Team Leader - June 2006

Considering the fact that class reunions only come around every five or ten years, they should be memorable for the attendees. Reunion attendees also travel great distances to catch up with long-lost classmates and find out exactly how much their classmates have changed. This is just one of the many reasons that planning a high school reunion can be difficult and expensive. However, reunions do not have to be either of these things.

The first step when planning your class school reunion is to consider where you would like it to be. You may want to check with classmates, as some may have access to bars, restaurants, or hotels that could be the ideal location for the reunion. If you would like to keep the atmosphere casual, consider a barbecue at a local park. However, the best idea may be to approach the administration of your old high school and hold the reunion in the gymnasium or event room. When classmates walk through the halls to get to the reunion, this will set the nostalgic atmosphere.

After the location of the event has been chosen, your high school reunion invitations can be chosen. The invitations featured on range from elegant to casual, from classic to unexpected. Some of the most popular high school class reunion invitations feature an event ticket theme. These invitations are great for a fun, casual atmosphere.

Invitation Consultants also feature invitations with a class reunion theme. These invitations are classic and can be used for either dressy or casual reunions. Also, elegant invitations in ecru or silver with a colored or textured border will match any reunion, and convey a sense of simplicity.

When planning the actual events of the reunion, consider the year of graduation. Think of the movies, songs and trends that were popular. Incorporate these ideas into the theme of the reunion. For instance, make a CD of the most popular songs and keep the music playing. Use as many photos as you can find of various classmates as they appeared then and how they appear now. It may be an option to have inexpensive albums printed with a picture of each classmate from high school, along with what they are doing now, and any relevant contact information. The key is nostalgia. Also remember that guests attend to talk with classmates, so the majority of the evening should be a time for socializing.

To plan a successful reunion, all you have to do is take your classmates back to a time period. To do this, use music, pictures and trivia, anything to remind classmates of when you were in school. By bringing old classmates together and allowing them to catch up on old times, it will automatically bring them back to a simpler time. Old friendships will be revisited and memories will be shared. These are the only real ingredients needed for a successful class reunion.
